About Amy

I still love being a nurse. I just didn’t want to work that way anymore.

I’m Amy Anne Felix, a nurse practitioner with 20+ years in nursing. I write and make videos about the parts of a nursing career nobody puts in the brochure.

Chapter one

The office with no windows

Another day at my desk, another Zoom call, head already throbbing before a busy summer shift. I’d grab my green tea and head to the nurses’ station, and the same question kept coming back: is this the life I worked so hard for?

Everyone around me seemed to be pushing through like it was normal. I’d been a nurse for 17 years and an NP for 13 of them. Clinical, leadership, a doctorate. Every option felt more exhausting, not less. What I really wanted was a break.

This is not about quitting everything. It’s about redesigning intentionally.

Chapter two

The sabbatical

At the end of 2021 I left a successful clinical and leadership role to take three months off. It turned into six. I slept, traveled the Caribbean, spent unhurried time with family, and worked on an app I’d been building for nurses.

Mostly, I got honest about what I wanted life to feel like when it was over. Because let’s be real, I still had bills to pay.

Chapter three

What came after

I came back per diem at a vaccine clinic, kept building TrackCE, the app I co-founded, and started consulting with companies on nurse burnout. Since then I’ve worked in startups, managed NPs, and in 2026 moved into clinical informatics.

None of it was a straight line. That’s kind of the point. This is where I share it as it happens, including the in-between seasons when nothing feels settled yet.

What I believe

Rewriting the rules

Nursing is not a cage.

Productivity norms deserve questioning.

You can evolve without detonating your life.

Seasons are valid.

Rest is strategic.

There’s more than one route to alignment.
